A hand-tufted wool carpet in ivory with multicolor medallion pattern β the central medallion and bordered field built up in pile across the field. Tufting builds a denser pile than flatweave or knotting: yarn punched into a backing and finished from above, creating depth and weight. The medallion pattern β a central ornament with corner spandrels and bordered frame in blues, reds, greens against ivory β draws from Persian carpet traditions but is executed in the Uttar Pradesh tufted carpet vocabulary. Woven in Bhadohi or Mirzapur. The ivory grounds the multicolor work. Suited to formal interiors. 100% wool pile.
