Deccan brass thali with embossed, almost honeycomb rim, reminiscent of architectural niches or a lotus. A series of foliate and plain bands are arranged concentrically around a central medallion of an engraved stylised flower. This would probably have been used for food service such as sweet meats or fruit, or as a tray for a hookah or a water ewer at elaborate Deccan feasts for kings and nobility. It is thought that ewers would have been used to pour scented water for guest to wash their hands. Such feasts are well documented in Mughal literature and art.
The diameter of the thali is 12.5 inches. It is mounted on a stand and the total height is 20 inches while depth is 4.5 inches.
