There is a purple that belongs to Bengal's most beloved tree. Krishnachura wears it in silk and thread.
Named for the flamboyant tree whose deep crimson-purple blooms light up Bengal's summer streets, this Jamdani saree carries that same intensity β a rich, saturated purple woven in fine cotton, scattered with small white and pink diamond butti motifs that catch the light like stars against a night sky.
A pale lavender border runs the full length β quiet and contrasting against the deep purple body. The pallu arrives with larger woven diamond motifs and horizontal white stripes, the full Jamdani vocabulary in white and pink on violet.
Jamdani is not a print. It is a weave β recognised by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Each butti was formed on the loom itself, thread by thread. The patience behind this saree is in every motif.
Wear it to a festive evening, a cultural gathering, a wedding β or anywhere that deserves the depth and richness of this colour.
