Portrait of Petrus Plancius Art Print

This print features a Latin inscription describing Petrus Plancius, a Dutch astronomer, cartographer, and minister. The text calls him “Petrus Plancius Amstelredamensis” (Petrus Plancius of Amsterdam) and “Theologus et Mathematicus” (Theologian and Mathematician). It details Plancius’ accomplishments as a writer and cartographer,  referring to him as  “Se maris et terrae scriptorem” (Writer of the Seas and Lands) and mentioning his charts of  “Indiae Orientalis” (East Indies) and “Nova Francia” (New France). The text also credits him with discovering  “Onnes stellarum magnitudines” (all the magnitudes of the stars).

These prints are printed on a fine quality ivory paper.
