This print features a Β Latin poem detailing the life and travels of Amerigo Vespucci, the explorer credited with naming the Americas. The poem mentions Β Vespucciβs sailing experience under Columbus and his own explorations that led him to believe he had reached a new continent, not just the Indies. The veracity of his claims were eventually accepted, and the lands he explored came to be known as America.
