Some stories suggest that Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, wrote the Mahabharata as it was recited to him by sage Vyasa. In this intricately detailed sculpture made using the lost wax process, Ganesha is seen holding a scroll in one hand, and his broken tusk in the other, which he to write the Mahabharata.
