This is a reverse glass painting from southern India.
Through the centuries, Krishna has been shown as an alluring adolescent, a handsome young man, or as in this example, a chubby child. Depicted naked except for his jewellery, Krishna plays a shankha or conch with his right hand. His hair is tied in the characteristic topknot, embellished with flowers and jewellery. A cow rubs itself against Krishnaβs legs as a bhakta stands in prayer to his left.
