The Maliky kilim is Herat's most refined flat-woven format β Turkmen weavers working within a discipline that has no pile to hide behind, where every colour decision and every line is final the moment the weft is passed. This piece works across a warm amber-gold field β the colour of late afternoon sunlight on old stone β from which an all-over botanical pattern in deep red and indigo grows upward, unhurried and precise.
The border is a deep navy, structured with geometric repeat motifs that bring the warmth of the field into focus. Wholly wool, flat-woven in Herat. The kind of kilim that works in a room as either an anchor or a centrepiece, depending on what surrounds it.
