The Maliky kilim in small format is one of the most useful objects a home can have β a piece with enough visual character to anchor a space, light enough to lift and re-place as the room changes. This one works in deep navy and aubergine, the colours of winter evenings, with a central medallion composition that draws the eye inward through a sequence of nested geometric forms in ivory and teal.
The borders are where the personality comes through: band after band of colour β jewel red, amber, cobalt, saffron β running along the top and bottom in a sequence that is somehow both disciplined and exuberant. Wholly wool, flat-woven in Herat by Turkmen craftspeople.
