Lakshmi is the Hindu goddess of wealth, fortune and prosperity, and the wife of Lord Vishnu. Along with Parvati and Saraswati, she forms the holy trinity, or Tridevi. Goddess Lakshmi is seen here holding the lotus flower in two of her hands, which is a symbol for fortune and self-knowledge. Her other two hands are in the abhaya mudra and varada mudra. This beautiful sculpture of the goddess seated on a lotus is made using the lost wax technique.
