Narasimha is an avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu, that is part lion and part man. He is shown in this sculpture with wild eyes and bared teeth, holding a discus and conch in two of his four hands. Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and Vishnu's wife, is seated on Narasimha's left leg, and he holds her using his left hand, while his right hand is held up in the abhaya mudra. This intricate sculpture is made using the lost wax technique.
