A hand-woven wool dhurrie in yellow ground with multicolor geometric kilim bands β the pattern held in the linear, modular vocabulary that flatweave does best. Dhurries are the workhorses of Indian floor covering: woven flat without pile, lighter than knotted carpets, easier to shake out, suited to traffic. The kilim technique layers geometric motifs in horizontal bands, the colours sharp and graphic against the yellow field. Woven in Bhadohi by carpet artisans of the Uttar Pradesh tradition, where the technique has passed master-to-apprentice for generations. The yellow reads warm in natural light, cooler against whites and greys. A flatweave with no pile, 100% wool.
